Hemat Gryffe Refuge Follow on Service

We have a dedicated worker who assist women relocating from refuge to permanent accommodation and provide support with safety planning and ongoing support to allow them to settle into the new home.

After-care support is an integral part of our service provision. The purpose of which is to ensure that a  smooth transition from refuge to permanent accommodation occurs and allows our specialised culturally sensitive support service to continue in order to prevent immediate hardship, social exclusion and isolation.

The support provided is as follows:

  • To accompanying women to view a new tenancy
  • To help women and children settle into their new home
  • To complete relevant paperwork e.g. community care grants and assist you with your new tenancy agreement
  • To help with furniture shopping and setting up domestic accounts
  • To register women at the local doctor surgery and any other appropriate agency
  • To advocate where needed
  • To provide practical and emotional support when moving
  • To provide information about the local area
  • To encourage women to build links in the community and encourage independence

Support is provided for a period of 3 months.
