Drop in Centre
Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid are women from various backgrounds who are concerned about violence against women, children and young people. We have multi-lingual employees and volunteers.
Our drop in centre at 24 Willowbank Street, Glasgow, G3 6LZ operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and is the first point of contact for women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Staff at the centre are non-judgemental and have the necessary skills to provide support and information in a culturally sensitive manner on a wide range of issues such as domestic abuse, temporary refuge, forced marriage, welfare rights, housing, legal, immigration etc. and we can make referrals to other partner agencies.
We provide culturally sensitive counselling and recognise that women, children and young people from the black and minority ethnic community experiencing domestic abuse may be reluctant to seek help from mainstream services such as Hemat Gryffe Womens Aid or social services due to cultural beliefs.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse or an oppressive domestic situation please contact us.

Refuge
Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid provide safe temporary refuge accommodation to women and their children primarily from the black and minority ethnic community who are escaping domestic abuse either from their partner or extended family member. The refuge is a safe and secure place where the residents are provided with emotional and culturally sensitive support and assistance to enable women to make decisions about their own future.
We do not turn away any women without listening and we ensure that all women and children receive an equal service regardless of age, ability, sexuality, ethnic or cultural background.
If you are fleeing domestic abuse and require refuge accommodation contact us.
Refuge After care service
We have a dedicated worker who will assist women in safety planning and prepare the women and children (if any) for relocating to permanent accommodation and provide further ongoing support to allow them to settle into the new home.
After-care support is an integral part of our service provision. The purpose of which is to ensure a smooth transition from refuge to permanent accommodation occurs, allows our specialised culturally sensitive support service to continue and prevents immediate hardship, social exclusion and isolation.
